Yikes! What a storm! What's gross about ancient towns is the ancient sewer systems. There is usually all sorts of nasty floating around and I'm really hoping you didn't get a glimpse of that! I was in a flood in Pisa once and there were rats everywhere trying to climb the walls to escape the water! I love living vicariously through your Italian adventures!
